Ransomware, which is malicious software used to extort money, represents a growing threat to users.

The software can encrypt files until a ‘ransom’ is paid in a difficult-to-trace digital currency, such as bitcoins.

Dubbed “KeRanger,” the Mac ransomware was identified by Palo Alto Network researchers Claud Xiao and Jin Chen earlier this month.

“The only previous ransomware for OS X we are aware of is FileCoder, discovered by Kaspersky Lab in 2014

Update: Apple's new Macbook Air laptops are faster and sport longer battery life.

Apple has rolled out cheaper, upgraded versions of its MacBook Air laptops amid new reports about its upcoming iPhone 6 and rumoured iWatch.

The new MacBook Airs feature improved processors that make the ultra-portable machines faster and more powerful than their predecessors.

In addition to the speed bump, the upgraded models also come with longer-lasting batteries. The company promises up to nine hours of use for the 11-inch models, and 12 hours for the 13-inch models.

Remember when the iMac was a stylish, transparent computer, and people would appreciate the fact that PCs did not all have to have the same functional, dull and drab appearance? Back then, computing power would not be the first thing that comes to mind when the iMac was brought up. Times have changed. The new iMacs are not lacking when compared with other PCs. They are slimmer and with more power graphics too!
