Windows could not start this screen saver

Just when you think you’ve experienced all the weird things that can happen with Windows Vista .. I started getting “Windows could not start this screen saver” messages popping up in place of the screen saver. Looks like it is not a new problem, as other have experienced the Windows could not start this screen saver problem too.

The suggestion to use sfc /scannow didn’t work for me, i.e., it reported no problems. Hmm.
